Cynthia

A recent graduate of Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) in Mankato, MN, Cynthia is an active musician in the Twin Cities area. She regularly performs for weddings and events, teaches lessons, and accompanies instrumentalists, vocalists, and church congregations. A highlight of her 2019 season was performing Britten’s “This Little Babe” with the BLC Mary Martha Singers throughout the Pacific Northwest. Some of the highlights of her 2018 season included soloing in Tchaikovsky’s “Valse des Fleurs” and in Handel’s Harp Concerto with the BLC Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Benjamin Faugstad. Cynthia’s love for music developed at an early age. She began piano lessons with her older sister at age eight and started studying lever harp with her grandma a year later. She then took piano and pedal harp lessons with Mary Beth Millner and Rhonda Grobe. While in high school, she co-led an outreach-based chamber group. Cynthia studied with Phala Tracy on the harp and Mark DeGarmeaux on the organ at BLC, where she received a Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in harp performance. She participated in the Concert Choir, Mary Martha Singers, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Chamber Orchestra. She loves working with children and is a professional nanny. When not performing or teaching, Cynthia likes to walk outside, read books, and spend time with family and friends. Cynthia’s goal as a teacher for All Things Musik is to share the love of music with kids through classical repertoire.
