Xin, originally from Fujian Province in China, began his piano studies at age five. From 2008-2012, he studied in the School of Music at Fujian Normal University, and was awarded first place in piano performance. From 2013-2016, He studied with Dr. Jonathan Korth at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, where he was enrolled in the Master of Music program. He is currently pursuing Doctoral Degree in Piano Performance at the University of Minnesota School of Music. Xin has won my award in piano competitions including: the first Chinese Piano Art Festival (Singapore), 2nd place in MTNA State Young Artist Competition and the National College Piano Competition (Xiamen, China). He was honored to be named the winner of the UH Music Department’s Student Concerto Competition, and having a successful performance with University of Hawaii symphony orchestra in Neal S. Blaisdell Center. Xin has been teaching piano since he was a freshman in China; most of students are young children. When he was pursuing his Masters degree in Hawaii, he was able to gain a lot of teaching experience with students of all ages. Some of his students attended the MTNA competitions and got excellent place, especially two brothers (5 years old and 8 years old); they won first place in their level. Xin is exciting to continue sharing his piano knowledge and help instill a love for music in others.
